Theatre Wakefield welcomes seniors over 60 of all abilities – particularly men! -- to an audition for a new artistic project called Seniors Create. We’ve engaged Diane Lemire, a wonderful visual artist in Chelsea and Tedd Robinson, an equally wonderful and acclaimed movement/theatre artist living in the Pontiac, to facilitate the project.
Beginning in mid-September, a dozen seniors will meet twice a week until December with Tedd to reflect, remember, move, connect, write and collectively create a movement/theatre work that will be performed in mid-January at the next TaDa! Performing Arts Festival (and possibly beyond). Another dozen seniors will meet with Diane once a week during the same time-period to create a visual arts set for the stage.
The participants will be the creators of the work in every sense, and will meet in a safe environment of equity, inclusion and collaboration. The more diverse the better: persons with disabilities, LGBTQ2S+, Indigenous peoples and visible minorities are welcome; no formal training in any art form is necessary. Those interested in the movement/theatre creation will be chosen for their passion for moving, their interest in self-expression and their openness to working as a collective. There will be sharing among them at every step.
For further information or if you are interested in participating in Seniors Create, please contact Andrea Rowe at 819-639-9047 or email@example.com.
Theatre Wakefield gratefully acknowledges the generous funding of Canadian Heritage, Employment and Social Development Canada (New Horizons program), the MRC des Collines and the Municipality of La Pêche for this project.
