Open Call Auditions

This autumn we’re presenting Jeeves at Sea by P.G. Wodehouse, one of the early 20th century’s most popular comedic English writers, and we’re looking for two men and a woman to complete our cast of six. We’re also looking for a stage manager – no experience necessary!

Rehearsals of Theatre Wakefield shows are a lot of fun, particularly when the production is a silly comedy written for laughs. We welcome first-timers with open arms, and guarantee you’ll have the time of your life (or at least you won’t regret it!)

Directed by: Claude Laroche

Claude has oodles of experience acting and directing, and he chose this play because it’s lighthearted and clever, pokes fun at the monied British leisure classes of yesteryear, and he loves the fact that the whole thing takes place on a boat!

Auditions Dates: July 9-10, 2022

Audition Location:

(likely) Centre Wakefield LaPêche,

Production Dates:

Nov. 18, 19, 25, 26 at 7pm and Nov. 27 matinée at 2pm

All actors must be available for all performances.

Rehearsals begin in September, likely twice a week, although not all actors are required at every rehearsal.

We are casting for three characters:

BERTRAM WILBERFORCE WOOSTER:A happy bachelor who is simply "rolling in the oof" (he's wealthy), and tenderly caredfor by his peerless valet Jeeves. Bertie nonetheless has a remarkable talent for landing squarely in the soup.

SIR PERCIVAL EVERARD CRUMPWORTH (“CRUMPET”): Bertie's pal, a love struck and poverty-stricken peer, two conditions that do not mix well. He may have committed murder -- or not -- the details are a bit dim, as is Crumpet.

LADY STELLA VANDERLEY: A mischievous heiress who delights in stirring up trouble, just for the fun of it. She adores toying with her many lovelorn suitors. Bertie is quite smitten with her but Jeeves has his doubts.
