I have been connected to Theatre Wakefield since it started, and have been on stage, back stage, and building the stage many times in the last 16 years. I’ve had a wonderful 3 1/2 years as a Board member and then co-chair of the Board, together with Andrea Rowe. From organizing the first theatre camp to directing my first reading of Dispatches, it’s been a great experience. I was so proud to see our “Sweet Sixteen” party celebrated by our totally engaged and enthusiastic community. Even better has been seeing so many new faces and new people get on stage and become part of our company of Players. And who can forget the immense “Into the Woods” that had the craziest closing night ever! Now that's stage managing at its weirdest. I’m leaving the Board in good hands with some great new ideas. This little theatre company has become a truly integrated part of the community, and I’m delighted and honoured to have been a little part of it. I’ll still be around, albeit not on the Board, and can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
