Maîtres Chez Nous to premier in November

The play explores the manner in which the sovereignty movement took hold after the election of the Parti Québecois in 1976, following events up to and including the second referendum in 1995. There are references to key political figures and milestones, but the characters are ordinary people, affected in different, sometimes surprising ways, by the events of those times. One of these, as an older man, serves as narrator, looking back twenty years later with conflicting emotions. The play will be interspersed with music made popular in Québec during those heady days, when many believed the péquistes were indeed on the threshold of achieving their dreams.
