Theatre Wakefield is building a Regional Outaouais Arts and Culture Touring (ROACT) network, thanks to funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage. This month, Project Coordinator Ilka de Laat welcomed two new staff members: Imran Hamdad and Erin Flynn. As regional reps, their job is to research and contribute to an inventory of the cultural venues in the MRC de La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau and the MRC de Pontiac (Ilka herself will be working within the MRC des Collines de l’Outaouais). All three will also develop a network of contacts, including venue owners, artists, arts groups, municipal contacts, businesses, media, funders, etc. The resulting database will bring artists and audiences together in all kinds of ways, establish new connections and build stronger communities.
Imran has experience working with youth, leading programs that reduce rural isolation, improve mental wellness and connect youth with services to support healthy living in their community. Erin’s background is primarily in music: she is currently Station Manager of CHUO 89.1 FM (University of Ottawa’s community radio) and recently acquired a church in Quyon, Quebec that she’s turned into an artist-run recording studio, artist retreat and vegan kitchen.
Welcome to you both!
