In northern India’s sparsely populated and mountainous Ladakh region, an impoverished young boy is discovered to be the reincarnation of an esteemed, high-ranking Tibetan monk. Born displaced from his monastery, the boy must wait for devotees to come and fetch him. Amid growing doubts and expectations in their community, the boy and his elderly godfather embark on a gruelling, improbable trek to return the young monk to his rightful monastery before it's too late. Stirring, awe-inspiring and serene, but there is also great lightness and playfulness here – a remarkable, warm story of love and duty. It's also incredibly beautiful. Winner of numerous awards, including Best Feature Film, Berlinale.
