Theatre Wakefield is in need of persons interested in producing our shows. Especially, we need an individual or a team right away for our Fall production. This position is so important to the success of our shows that without one, the show could not go on. It could be an individual or a co-producing team. We will provide training and support. This is a great opportunity to apprentice and learn about basic project management. Producers are essentially project managers. If you already have those skills, you are most welcome!
Supported by your Board rep./mentor, you have overall responsibility for the show and are there to support the vision of the Director as much as possible. You are involved in creating the budget based on the show’s needs, finding and managing the volunteer staff for the stage management, set, front of house, tickets, backstage and promotion. Working with the Director and Stage Manager, you will create and monitor a production timeline with milestones, troubleshooting as necessary.
You will direct a marketing and promotion team using both traditional advertising and new media to ensure audience engagement. This includes arranging for poster and media products design and distribution in a timely manner and the creation of press releases, arranging for articles, interviews and Public Service Announcements (PSAs). You will arrange for any outside events related to the show such as Galas, Workshops or Promotional activities.
It is a big job over four months but you will be supported at every step and most of the work is in the planning stages. Do you have an interest and maybe have a friend or spouse to work with you? We hope you are up to the challenge because we really need you!
