Honky Tonk Blue – The Night Patsy Met Hank, January 2013
November 26, 2012
Honky Tonk Blue – The Night Patsy Met Hank imagines country music legends together… Eastern Townships’ writer and actor Laura Teasdale has crafted a mischievously playful musical about a star-crossed meeting between a young Patsy Cline, just beginning her climb toward becoming the queen of country music, and country’s broken king, Hank Williams, just days before his death. Patsy wants her chance in the spotlight, but she gets more from Hank than she bargained for as she learns just how cold and lonesome the music world can be. Hank is given one last shot at redemption, and he finds it in making music with her, covering vintage songs as powerful as the two personalities who created them. “Laura Teasdale and Ralph Steiner make beautiful music together in Honky Tonk Blue – The Night Patsy Met Hank. That’s Hank as in Williams, and Patsy as in Cline, two venerable icons of American music in all its hurtin’, cheatin’ heart glory!” -The Montreal Gazette The two lead actors bring thrilling authenticity to their roles, backed up by a trio of crackerjack musicians. If you’ve ever wondered what harmonies might have come from a Hank and Patsy duet, this show is for you!
