Pick of the Litter - Local Artists Talk about their "MUST SEE" Piggyback Fringe show
Accident and TRANSCAN attract Nadia Ross
Nadia Ross - Artistic Director of the internationally travelled theatre company STOUnion says ...
my picks would be "TransCanada '69" because I like the music of the summer of '69 and its Canadian music. I am interested as well in "The Accident" because of the potential unusual and unexpected elements in the show
Linda Vanderlee Anticipates TRANSCANADA '69
Linda Vanderlee, Owner of Rendezvous Rupert and facilitator of the mind map that launched Theatre Wakefield's first production - Much Ado about Lizzie - in 2002 is going to see ...
Transcanada ’69 for sure! Looking forward to hearing Colin’s take on fondly remembered singer-song writers who have long inspired my own love of music and song. I’m guessing it will also be a refreshing change in the midst of the other great Fringe shows I plan on taking in.
Robert Roonie tips Grandpa Sol and Grandma Rosie
Film maker, theatre director and Theatre Wakefield creative critic Robert Roonie is as usual not unpredictable ....
Those that know my brother Andrew and me, know that we live the "unexpected, unusual and unintended tale of two brothers" so The Accident has its appeal. But, as a new granddad, I can probably pick up a few useful tips from Grandpa Sol and Grandma Rosie. Plus it was an Adelaide Fringe Award Winner last year so that's my pick.
TRANSCANADA '69 beckons Louis Rompre
Sound man extraordinaire, musician and candle magician Louis Rompre says ...
You can't go wrong with TRANSCANADA '69. A Canadian history of some of our biggest musical icons interpreted with virtuosity, TRANSCANADA '69 is a road I'm very much looking forward to traveling down.
Scott Hebert Daly Pitches the Blond
Actor, teacher and Theatre Wakefield's playright in residence insists ....
I - and you - must see Pitch Blonde. It sounds like a great show about a person who paints herself into her stereotype, despite being incredibly different in her actual life. Plus, the actress is staying at our home... :)
Archy and Mehitabel grabs John Hardie
Actor and playwright John Hardie received the first collection of author Don Marquis' comic sketch masterpiece for his 30th birthday a few years back....
for me, “archy and mehitabel” is the must-see of the piggyback programme
don marquis published his rich free verse poems in 1927 about a poet whose soul has transmigrated into a cockroach (archy) who is forced to leap headfirst from the frame of a typewriter onto a key hence writing his poetry one letter at a time and hence without capital letters or punctuation to a lover of e.e.cummings this is very appealing and archy’s uneasy relationship with the cat (mehitabel) who is a reincarnation of cleopatra provides much comic dramatic tension go and see it boss
The Accident happens for Andrew Salkeld
Business development guru and theatre aficionado Andrew Salkeld recommends ...
'The Accident' is advertised in the LowDown as "pants-wettingly hilarious", which as far as I can tell is a novel and creative way to link subject matter with critique. Gets my vote!
